What is the difference between Chiropractor / Physiotherapy / Orthopaedics / Neurosurgery?
Chiropractor
Chiropractors in Hong Kong are required to receive professional training from international colleges accredited by the Hong Kong Chiropractors Council, which are located in countries like the UK, USA, Canada, and Australia. To become a licensed chiropractor in Hong Kong, practitioners must obtain a university degree and professional qualification in chiropractic.
Chiropractors believe in drug-free, non-invasive treatment to correct spinal problems. The precise diagnosis techniques and high-tech equipment allow them to customize treatment plans for each patient's unique pain problem. Fees will vary based on the required treatment plan. You can also find useful information about spine-related pain in the media, or try our pain relief and stretching exercises.
Physiotherapy
Both treatments aim to alleviate pain, but with a specialized focus on muscle or fascia pain, exercise instruction for rehabilitation after pain or injury, and expert tendon stretching and pain relief techniques for the affected area.
Orthopaedics
Orthopaedics uses surgical procedures to target various injuries to the skeletal system, such as the management of fractures or artificial knee replacements. In contrast, non-surgical management and relief are usually recommended for other painful conditions. Did you know that 80% of patients with pain improve after non-surgical treatment? However, if the condition does not improve after a period of conservative treatment or if there are other injuries that worsen the condition, it is necessary to consult an orthopaedic surgeon, and surgical treatment may become necessary.
Neurosurgery
Neurosurgery is a surgical approach to diagnosing and treating nervous system disorders, including those of the central, peripheral, and autonomic nervous systems, as well as their supporting structures like the spine.
Radiology
Radiology is a dynamic science that integrates examination, diagnosis, and treatment to provide definitive and complementary diagnoses for a range of clinical conditions. Advanced radiological equipment generally includes plain X-ray machines, computed radiography (CR), digital radiography (DR), X-ray computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and digital subtraction angiography (DSA).
